Year of the Disney

So far, 2009 has been the year of Disney for the Loy household. In January, we used some Christmas money to purchase annual passes to Disneyland (go twice and they're paid for). We've gone a couple times so far. Last month we got to join my parents in Orlando for a few days at Disney World. And today we are heading back to Disneyland with Megan's parents. That is a lot of Disney! Here are a few of my favorite shots, but for friends and family who are interested, here is a link to the rest of our pics. Now, off to enjoy another day at Disney!

praying. waiting. updates. pictures.

Hey friends, sorry about the prolonged silence. As you may have guessed, last weekend was an emotional one for me. I had some great opportunities to love on people and share with them about Christ, but it left me feeling emotionally beat. I needed a few days to recover.

I have also been wrestling internally and inconclusively over our near-future plans. Perhaps "wrestling" isn’t the right word – really not stressed or worried – just intensely seeking. I am one of those people who gets chronic tunnel vision when my life’s direction starts getting fuzzy. I don’t feel the need to always know where I’m going, but if I don’t feel like I am working towards something, I can hardly function. (I’m afraid it’s one of those chronic Type A personality things.)

We are essentially looking at 3 options:

  • head to the twin cities to do the full-time traditional seminary student thing at Bethel Seminary this fall
  • opt instead to pursue my degree through Bethel’s "InMinistry" program while pursuing a potential church planting opportunity in the Frisco, CO area
  • or the other "InMinistry" option of staying in Lincoln while continuing to serve at my beloved rivertree – which might mean leading a Sunday night venue this fall or perhaps planting a church in the future

At this point, Megan and I are praying and waiting as our house sits on the market and as we seek what God desires for us. We trust that God will continue to lead us one step at a time and very hopeful and excited about all three possibilities. If you’d shout out a prayer for us, we’d sure appreciate it!

:::: UPDATE ::::

Many of you have asked about Renae. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard from her since our conversation last weekend. I pray that she finds her way to church or gives me a call again. Most of all I pray she finds Christ and turns her life over to him. Tiffany is still at the Mission and doing much better. She looks refreshed and is in very good spirits. Thank you for your prayers!

I hope to get some time later this week to get back to writing something(s) a little more…um…substantial. But until then, PICTURES!

I’m a dad! This morning Paige Elizabeth was born at 7:49am, weighing 8.4 lbs and measuring 19 3/4 inches. She has bright blue eyes, long curly hair, and a smile that lights up
the room! She definitely has her daddy’s nose and lips; her mom’s chin,
face shape, eyebrows, and feet; and a pair of lungs that can do
permanent ear damage to the most diehard of roadies. (In other words,
I think the baby monitors were an unnecessary purchase.)

tomorrow

Welp, this is it. Tomorrow morning Megan and I head to Bryan East Hospital for a ‘c’ section scheduled at 7:30am. In just about 15 hours from now we’ll officially be parents! Please keep us in prayer as Megan is a little nervous about surgery and being temporarily immobile. Thanks a lot. We’ll see ya on the flip side.

down to the wire

Prgmnt

With about a week and a half until due date time, I figured I’d throw up what will probably be our last pre-baby pics. I can hardly grasp what I was feeling 9 months ago when we found out that Megan was pregnant and I was struggling to assure myself that we had made the right decision in trying to have kids. Now, almost a year later, I have fallen in love with the little girl I have yet to hold in my arms. I feel like I’ve been a dad for months. I can’t wait to see our little girl, hold her, play with her, change her diapers, watch her sleep, and well, be her dad. I never thought I’d be that guy. But I am. She’s already got me wrapped around her little finger.

psalm 139:13-16

    For you created my inmost being;
       you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

    I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
       your works are wonderful,
       I know that full well.

    My frame was not hidden from you
       when I was made in the secret place.
       When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

    your eyes saw my unformed body.
       All the days ordained for me
       were written in your book
       before one of them came to be.

baby prep

Megan
and I are starting to make our pre-child preparations. We moved my
office down to the basement so our baby’s room will be right next to
ours, we are preparing to paint the baby room and start getting it set
up, baby showers are starting to pop up on the calender, we are working
on tracking down a day care and setting up our baby’s doctor,
scheduling lamaze classes, and Megan is working hard on getting bigger
and making it look good – at least she’s got that covered.

my demise

For almost 3 years I successfully delayed the inevitability of someday
having kids, despite a constant barrage of strategic guilt tactics from
Megan. Some thought that it’d never happen. But in case you were
wondering, here is a brief recap of the events that led to my demise:

Ironically,
now that we have a little one on the way, we’re pretty sure that I am
more excited than Megan is! And as long as the baby cooperates, we will
find out what we are having this coming Tuesday – I can’t wait! Let’s
just hope the little one enjoys the spread eagle position as much as
their father.
