28 Days of Prayer

This Sunday we are entering into a very special season for Mosaic. In less than four weeks, we will celebrate our one year birthday as a church! Can you believe it?! It is hard for me to believe that it has already been a year. At the same time, it is amazing to think of how much we have seen God do in just these twelve short months!

Yet for all we’ve seen God do in Year 1, I sense that there are even greater things God wants to do amongst us in Year 2! There are new risks to be taken, new paths to be forged, new lives to be changed, new miracles to be witnessed, new prayers to be prayed, new depths to be experienced. We believe God wants to do BIG THINGS through his church so we are going to seek God together in a BIG WAY!

That said, as we come to the end of our first year together and as we prepare to begin our second, we want to take a season to really lean in together in prayer as we seek God, and seek his blessing and leading for us, our city and world. This Sunday we are beginning 28 DAYS OF PRAYER and we invite you to join us!

The Plan for “28 Days of Prayer”

SUNDAYS. On Sundays during “28 Days of Prayer,” we will be exploring prayer and fasting together. If talking about prayer sounds boring to you, then this is especially for you! The sad reality is that most people have boring, static, ineffective, uninspiring prayer lives. If we want to see all that God desires to do in and through our lives, that needs to change! We must rediscover the power of prayer!

WEEKDAY PRAYER @ 7am. During the 28 days, we are going to gather together in prayer every weekday at 7am. Since we do not have our own permanent space, we will do this online here. People will be able to chat during this time and will be encouraged to submit prayer requests on the chat wall for us all to pray over.

PRAYER WALL. If you have a prayer request, we want to cover it in prayer! We have created a ‘Prayer Wall’ on our fb page that you can find here. We encourage you to post your prayer requests on it and share it with anyone you know who would like prayer. We have a team of prayer warriors who will be praying over each and every prayer request each and every day for the next 28 days.

ASH WEDNESDAY. On the evening of Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, we will be having a special gathering at the Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park. We will gather not only to worship and recognize the beginning of Lent, but also to initiate a season of fasting together as we build up to the launch of our second service on March 11th!

FASTING. I will be posting more about fasting in the weeks to come, but for now I will say this: Prayer is about connecting to God. Fasting is about disconnecting from the world. When practiced together, they are a potent tool in the hands of God. Take this opportunity to disconnect from some of the things that often generate unnecessary busyness and noise in your life. We will begin fasting together on the evening of Feb 22nd at our Ash Wednesday service. Between now and then, prayerfully seek what God would have you disconnect from.

I have to tell you that I am so excited for this season. I am so encouraged that we are responding to the “success” of our first year by not simply adding ministries and initiatives and DOING more, but instead by falling down again at the foot of the cross before our Savior and inviting him to help us BECOME MORE.

I believe that this is going to be a POWERFUL season for us as a church. I believe the repercussions of this will be felt not just during these 28 Days, but throughout the next year. Expect the unexpected. Expect interference. Expect temptation. Expect to battle. Expect answered prayers. Expect miracles. Expect to be wonderfully at home in the arms of our Savior.

Get ready…
